The solidarity day of the IES Ramón y Cajal de Huesca doubles the collection of 2020

The solidarity day organized on Thursday, April 7, by the IES Ramón y Cajal in Huesca was a complete success and exceeded all expectations, as it resulted in a collection of 2,500 euros thanks to the collaboration of all the students, teachers and families, which is 1,000 more than in the edition of two years ago.

To this end, a solidarity market was organized from 10:15 to 10:45 and from 12:20 to 12:50 where both students, teachers, families and residents of the neighborhood participated with their purchases. The 1st and 2nd ESO students sold the products from their craft and game workshops; and the 3rd and 4th graders sold tortillas, biscuits, sweets and other products made by them. In addition, there were awareness-raising activities on problems selected by them and on which the associations that will receive the funds work.

The proceeds will go to different entities. On the one hand, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, for the social needs of sick people, who are becoming more and more numerous. The Children’s Assistance Association, which is helping Ukrainian refugees who arrive in the city, will also receive a part, and another Unicef ​​for its support program for refugees in Ukraine. In addition, the Ay Raiki Tsika Association, in which staff from the institute that has a school in Madagascar collaborate, will benefit. And finally, the solidarity fund of the institute itself, which is used to help and collaborate with initiatives that allow students with fewer economic resources to continue studying and have educational free time.

During the morning there was also a sports competition between students and finals with teachers. In short, “a special morning of solidarity and coexistence to learn very important values”, highlights from the IES Ramón y Cajal.
