The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, declared this Thursday that he left his first meeting with the new leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, with “more unknowns than certainties” although he He has seen “more receptive” than Pablo Casado.
Sánchez has described his three-hour meeting as “cordial” and has seen the new leader of the PP especially interested in confronting economic issues, as he has told in an informal conversation with the journalists who accompany him on his trip to Rabat.
The president has confirmed that the leader of the PP has insisted on the deflation of personal income tax within the plan of measures against the consequences of the war and he has made it clear that the government is not willing to go that way and that when the popular have governed they have not done so.
Regarding the shock plan, he has reproached that the popular have not made any proposal and has transferred to Feijóo that he does not consider it “logical” that they vote against it because his petition is not included since there are other measures that are important right now.
“He has not told me that he is not going to support him, but he has not told me either that he is,” he pointed out. “I think it is between abstention and no,” she added. In this sense, he has reminded him that there is now a multi-party system and the measures can go ahead without the support of the PP, but “You will have to explain why you vote against it.”
As regards the reform of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), he has insisted on the importance of doing it before June and has indicated that Feijóo has to talk to the PP.
In any case, he has acknowledged that he thought that the leader of the PP would go to the meeting “with something concrete” in this matter and has encouraged him to he thinks he has a majority to reform the law let him try.
