Passion, history and love for Aragonese football. These are three of the most important aspects that have been brought to light this morning at the Zaragoza Center for Histories, where the exhibition ‘F football. 100 years of passion of a society’. The work, which can be visited until June 12has been inaugurated by the mayor of the city, Jorge Azcón, who has also made official the return of the Spanish team to Zaragoza 19 years later.
“I encourage the entire city and all football lovers to come and visit it. They will be delighted, everyone who loves Aragonese football will enjoy this exhibition”, said the mayor. The exhibition, framed as one of the key acts in the centenary of the Aragonese Football Federation, is curated by journalists Paco Giménez and Pedro Luis Ferrer.
“Aragonese football has a magnificent history and magnificent professionals. This History Center is the right place for an exhibition of these characteristics”, underlined Azcón, accompanied by the deputy mayor of Zaragoza, Sara Fernández; the Councilor for Sports, Cristina García, and the General Director of Sports of the Government of Aragon, Javier de Diego.
The president of the Aragonese Football Federation, Óscar Fle, has offered ample thanks to the “magnificent professionals who have made this exhibition possible”. After a long list of names, among which Calvo Pedrós, Ángel Aznar, Carmen de Miguel or Gerardo González stood out, in addition to the two curators, the leader recalled that without his work “it would have been impossible to start the exhibition” .
The main objective of this work, in which the Zaragoza City Council and Ibercaja collaborate, is to document the passion for football through different exhibition sections with images of the time. In them, the visitors will be able to contemplate who were the protagonists, how were they on the soccer fields, how was it played and in what conditionseven how reporters were placed to have these photographs today.
“This exhibition is a retrospective that cannot contain the entire development of football. It is a selection of the most important memories that the commissioners have understood to represent Aragonese football”, explained Manuel Torralba, president of the centenary commission of the Royal Aragonese Football Federation.
